Removing Shadow

Postby ziv_r » Sun Aug 13, 2006 9:09 am

Hi,
After using Txt2VobSub with default colors as shown:
Image

When loading the SUB\IDX on my player (DIVX 5000) i see in the bottom of the subtitle line a thin black shadow.
This shadow also appear in the right of the sibtitle line.

What do i need to change in the Txt2VobSub or in the Son2VSub in order to conceal the shadow?

look at http://www.trustfm.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1079

there is complete manual for create vobsub subtitles manualy

you need

subtitle workshop

substation alpha

maestro sbt use unicode

son2vobsub

let's start

1 be sure that your encoding for non Unicode application is set to your language
control panel > regional and language options > advanced tab after setting this option restart is required

2. open your subtitle in subtitle workshop and with ctrl+i correct errors which is present in almost all subtitles. some errors you need to correct manually and be aware that you find all subtitles which contains more then 40 characters (you can set this option in settings of program there is 3 places to be set)

3. after you refine your title save it but in ssa (substation alpha format save target as)

4 open substation alpha as first time you use this program set your style
find on bar style click on default and click on edit
set style as follows font you like Unicode size 20
alignment center
type subtitle
margins left 20 right 20 vertical 35
colors primary=secondary=tertiary= white shadow black you can use
color picker but color numbers must be same for first 3 colors
transparency do not touch
outline 2 shadow 0 opaque box unchecked
save this settings
open your refined subtitle
and just save it with f2

5 open maestrosbt
load your subtitle
be sure that you know fps of your divx because this define lot of settings
press rendering button and set (screen & bitmap size )
if you have 25 fps set
720x576 (pal dvd/.....
check -3 box
rest of options in this area do not touch
if you have 23.97 or 29 fps set
720x480 (ntsc dvd...
check -2 box
rest of options in this area do not touch
we are still in rendering options do no close
in color rendering set
only one set of text, anti......
in file format area
set windows 8bit bmp
in text area
set use style's
4:3
multibyte color page>system default
press ok and leave rendering option
press timing and set fps of your film twice same value
click edit and preview jut it check results
and after that press generate
save bitmaps in some folder for further use
6 now open son2vobsubmod
load your son file
set colors (click define your own palette)
first color white use color picker or if you want yellow type c29e1a
second color type 787f7f
third color black use color picker or type 108080
rest of colors MUST be all 0000000
click delete
click center 1 subtitle
click convert
after that you have two files idx and sub
be sure you name it same as your film is named
burn on some rewritable dvd for testing
and try if you have same effect there is a bug in application which txt2vobsub use for creation it is not authors mistake
if not ....

I know that this sound little complicated but it is not

who talk about avisub?

this section is about txt2vobsub

you have complete procedure to make *.idx and *.sub (vobsub subtitle file which is graphical format) files which is externally placed in folder where you place video of course you have to name it same as your video

:!: for your knowledge you do not touch video with avisub :!:
sub is placed in video file like sub stream
something like you have video with mp3 and ac3 sound on it
you simply have to open virtual dub ( virtual dub modulated is more reliable for this kind of job)
set video direct stream copy and remux your video
and strip subtitle stream within
:!: to place subtitle to picture of your avi file you must have to re-encode your avi file which is not case otherwise it will take hours instead of couple of minutes to do this job :!:

divx 6 sub or XSUB like it called officially is separate stream in avi file
same as chapters or any divx certified solution just an add feature
so if you have opportunity to use avisub use it
it do not make any difference to play on computer or other dvd/divx standalone player even if this player do not have option to reproduce XSUB's subtitle stream will be just ignored
