Subtitles in mkv file

Postby edwardBe » Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:33 pm

Hi,

When I watch an mkv file, it has subtitles, but when I convert it with avi2dvd, they are not there. Is the only way to get the subtitles to import them from an external file?

Thanks,

Edward

MKV files can have 2 forms of subtitles, sub-pictures where the subtitles are bitmap images, and text where the subtitles are usually in a SRT format.

Sub-pictures can not normally be used in Avi2Dvd, but text or SRT can, but not from inside the MKV file. You will need to rip the MKV file to obtain them, then make any corrections you require.

See viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2546 for details.
