On my computer (Celeron D 2,4GHz, 1GB RAM Dual Channel) 1,4GB file (xvid, playing time 1:45) conversion to DVD took 4 hours (using QuEnc with options: VBR, high quality, 2 pass).

Have anyone tested how long would it take with Core 2 Duo E6300?

How many passes did you use? 2 passes sound right from your numbers.
