Duration Does not seem to work properly

So, lets start with a very simple example. Add 6 photos to the output. Now double-click each one and do the following:
Click in the Ends: box and enter 3000.
Click Set These Options. Click Close.
Repeat for all photos.
NOte that these photos will have randomly selected transitions added to them...

Now Generate the video.
Now play the video. The images do NOT last 3 seconds each.

So lets try again. Double-click the first photo, cluck the HHMMSS button and with it set to 0 click Insert at start. Now increment the Seconds to 3 and click Insert at end.
Click the X and click Set these options. Click Close
For the next image, do all the same except before clicking Insert At Start don't change anything, so in this case it's at 3 and you just click insert at start. Then increment seconds by 3 so it's at 6 and click insert at end. Repeat all other steps exactly the same.
Repeat all the above for all 6 images.

Generate and play that video. The timing is STILL off.

So in the end, I can Not seem to get the timing right. What I need is more complex than the above example, each image will should show for a different amount of time becaue I need it to match it up to my voice, sort of like a power point presentation... What am I doing wrong?

if you make transitions then you should "count" the transition time (default 1000 ms)
so the time is :

TOTAL FILM DURATION = (PHOTO DURATION 1 - TRANSITION FROM PHOTO 1 TO PHOTO2) + PHOTO DURATION 2

Well, that - time seems backwards. I was expecting it to be one of these:
1) Simply photo duration (hoping you already had the transition time calculated in)
2) Photo 1 duration + transition time + photo 2 duration + ...

I'll give it a try and post back.

Ok, I finally figured it out. It's confusing, but I understand why it was done this way now (though it's still confusing but works ok). So for anyone who needs help, here it is. The below assumes you want each image shown for 3 seconds with a 1 second transition and you want a total movie time of 18seconds...

1) Add 6 images.
2) Give each image a transition with transition time=1000
3) Set times for all images: start=0 end=4000
4) Generate the video.
Note that the video will end up being 19seconds which is 1sec longer than we wanted. This happeded because the last image has no transition but we set the end=4000. To correct this, simply set the last image end time=3000.

Note that we wanted the image shown for 3 seconds, but we entered 4000ms (4sec). You have to set the end time equal to the time you want PLUS the transition time! So if you want the image to show for 5 seconds and the transition for 2 seconds, the end time=5+2=7.

I'm now going to test this with my actual video, which is far more complicated. Here's hoping it all works! EDIT: Yes, it did! Yea! Thanks!

** I did find an actual bug: If I name the file name.avi, it appends another .avi so in the end my file gets named name.avi.avi.
